Where can I find a reasonably low-priced digital SLR camera with at least 10 megapixels?
I have been interested in buying a digital SLR camera with at least 10 megapixels and should have optical zoom and a lens, not camera body only.
Would anyone know where to find ones on the cheaper side or be willing to sell one to me with proof it’s in good condition?

The Nikon D series(D40, D60, D80, etc.) are pretty good and range from I’ve heard $500-$1,000. Cannon is also pretty good. My family just got a D60 and its great. for just the body only it is around $750 and comes with one lens. If you would want the full kit and everything that would be around $960(Tax Included).
Since the XSi came out, the price of the Canon Rebel XTi has dropped a lot! You can find one with lens for about $650 right now, which is excellent for a DSLR. I’ve had mine for a few years now and have been very happy with it.

Don’t fall in love with megapixels!

It seems that everyone is stuck on the pixel count of sensors … Thank you marketing people!
Pixel count is one of four factors that can help you determine the quality and resolution you can expect from a digital camera in order of importance.
* Quality of the lens
* The quality and sophistication of the analog to digital converter within the camera.
* Sensor size
and last and certainly least:
* Pixel count
In fact the larger the pixel count on a given sensor, the smaller the pixel which then can generate noise … something you want to avoid.
At present the digital camera with the most for your money is the Nikon D40 with a 18-55mm lens … under $470.

Look at the Sony A200 and the Pentax K10D.
Go to digitalcameraguide.com and read the reviews of all the DSLR cameras in your price range. You’ll find that there are viable alternatives to Nikon and Canon – Sony, Fuji, Olympus, Sigma and Pentax – comparably priced but with more features and benefits.
No DSLR has “optical zoom”. They use zoom lenses such as the 18-70mm kit lens with the Sony A200 or the 18-55mm kit lens with the Canon XTi.
Regardless of which DSLR you choose, plan to spend some serious time to READ & STUDY the Owner’s Manual for the camera. If you don’t know every feature and setting and when, why and how to use them you’ll be as frustrated as you’d be trying to thread a needle blindfolded while wearing gloves.
Taking photography classes is strongly recommended.
Good luck!
K100D Super is another option you should look at. Only 6 MP but a great starter DSLR. K10D and K200D are priced a little more but they have 10 MP.
