Canon T1i is not taking as good pictures as Nikkon D5000. just because it doesn’t have quality image and control. D-movie recording is useless on 1080P mode. it is definitely not worth money. it is bulky and heavy too. i am strongly recommend to get Nikon D5000 instead of Canon T1i.

In less than 10 days of my buying the camera body, lens 18-55mm and 55-250mm, Amazon listed to sell the same camera and all the two lens at lower price than what I paid for by ~$50. When I called the customer service, the experience was NOT GOOD, they REFUSED TO ADJUST the prices stating a long story of changes in Amazon policy. I am just wordering all the stores Guranttee the price for atleast 15days whereas others guranttee for 30 days or even more.
Amazon customer service wanted me to return the camera and lens and buy it again. This is same thing as adjusting the price and refunding me the difference. I don’t understand the logic of returning.
Amazon need to make sure they gurantee the price for atleast 15days or make sure same products with lower price are NOT ATLEAST SOLD ON THEIR WEB PAGE for 15 days. This is bad experience. I stil expect them to change the policy and refund me $50.
WAKE UP AMAZON. This is REAL WORLD. You are NOT WORKING IN ISOLATION AND NEED TO COMPLY WITH WHAT OTHERS DO AND THAT”S THE WAY TO BE COMPETITIVE>

Ever since I started thinking about a DSLR, I have been hearing very controversial opinions about Canon or Nikon outbeating the competitor.
A year ago I bought a Nikon D40x, but then a friend of mine managed to convince me that Canon is better, so when Canon introduced its Rebel T1i, I decided to switch and upgrade.
I have tried to compare the two cameras, and in my opinion the pictures taken with Canon T1i with IS 18-55 lens are not as crisp as the ones taken by my older Nikon D40x with standard (non-VR) 18-55 lens. (Maybe I am not using the right settings on Canon, or maybe with better optics Canon can outperform Nikon, but it’s not the case with standard modes and standard kit lenses.)
In all other aspects it’s a great camera, with great features. Some of the features are missing on my Nikon D40x.
I will play with Canon a little more, but I guess I will get rid of Canon and will stick to Nikon.

I spent many weeks making my decision about which DSLR I wanted. I’ve used an SLR extensively in the past but migrated to the digital point and shot models as my interest in serious photography waned. Needing a better camera to augment my garden writing I decided go back to SLRs but stay with digital. The professional models were out of my price range and I didn’t need that level of complexity and functions. The Canon T1i ended up providing me with all the options I needed for a reasonable price. I say reasonable because it was more expensive than the Nikon D5000 which has similar features. It’s new on the market so naturally the price will go down eventually. But I needed a camera immediately. After having the camera only a week I took it to a week long symposium, touring countless gardens. I expected to be able to learn the camera as I used it. No chance. The tours moved so fast I almost had to revert to the Sports Mode to catch all the shots I wanted. Using only the “auto” modes I still got great pictures that were taken in dim light, rain, windy conditions. It was most forgiving in dim light where I got well lit results. The LCD viewfinder was great…gave bright, true color results. The light weight of the camera was also important after hauling it around for 8-9 hours a day. I have practiced with the Creative Mode (CA) some and like those in camera results. I expect this camera to be with me for some time, and as I learn all of its features, also expect to like it even more.

Buena cámara de fotos. Para clips de video deja bastante que desear. El enfoque no es dinámico y la memoria de una class 6 no le alcanza. Habrá que probar con las nuevas SDHC class 10.
