Yes, you can use a film flash on a digital camera. However, the new flashes have upgraded electronics that allows them to act “smarter.” I would recommend upgrading to a Canon 430EX II.


Some say that it might not be a good idea to use older flashes meant for film SLR’s on DSLR’s. The trigger voltages that were safe for the simpler cameras may be excessive for the DSLR’s electronics.
